Our Choice: 80th Oscars Edition

The most expected night finally happened. WGA and the producers scared the entertainment world but they patched things up right in time.

But awards ceremonies are today much more than that and being this a fashion and style related site these were the stars that won our oscar for best dressed:

HEIDI KLUM
Red was definitively the colour of this Oscars edition and wasn't just about the carpet. Heidi also stunned by wearing this Haute Couture by John Galliano and looked even better when she said that the dress will be auctioned off online to beneft Red Heart Truth charity.

AMY RYAN
Amy kept it simple and safe and hit high with this one-shouldered navy Calvin Klein gown.

KRISTIN CHENOWETH
"That's how [she] knows" that looking good on the red carpet is possible by wearing this black and rose Armani Privé gown.

HELEN MIRREN

Helen looked regal and elegant in custom-made ruby red satin Georges Chakra gown with Swarovski crystal sleeves.

AMY ADAMS

She looked like a modern "Enchanted" princess by wearing this Proenza Schouler emerald gown.
KATHERINE HEIGL

Katherine knows that Old Hollywood's flair looks good on her so she plays it safe and chose an amazing Escada red dress.

MILEY CYRUS

Miley looked fiery but at the same time sweet with this red Valentino gown on.

MARION COTILLARD

She might have been surprised by winning the Oscar but she was already a favourite of ours. She didn't disapointed us and looked dazzling on this custom made Jean-Paul Gaultier gown, that made her look like a beautiful mermaid.

HILARY SWANK

Hilary keeps being one of the red carpet godesses by wearing this Atelier Versace black dress. Customized for her, remeber that the "orginal" version had the two shoulder straps.

JESSICA ALBA

Jessica highlighted her maternity glow with this deep-purple Marchesa gown, simple jewelry and fresh hairdo.

ANNE HATHAWAY
She really impressed with this flowered and draped red Marchesa gown, Harry Winston diamonds on.

JENNIFER GARNER

On her daily life Jennifer may keep it simple but when comes to red carpet she puts that philosophy aside and looks always great. This year was no exception and looked really beautiful with a black silk taffeta Oscar de la Renta gown on, Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds, Roger Vivier clutch.

Our Choice: BAFTA Awards

The British awards usually work as a warm up for the Oscars and everything shows that probably this year was not an exception. The awards were handed without big surprises and the red carpet caught our eye too. Lets take a look of the stars that dressed to impress:

JESSICA BIEL
She didn't dare too much by choosing this classic and simple black Dior gown but it was enough to look more than good.

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY

Keira looked like ethereal and feminine on this Valentino dress. We would only comb her hair differently but she keeps looking great.

EMILY BLUNT

Miranda Priestley would be (secretly) proud of her senior assistant if she would saw her looking this good. Her natural grace and the Marc Bouvier dress helped a lot.

Our Choice: Screen Actors Guild

We know that the SAG happened two weeks ago but we could not forget to choose those stars that really impressed us in terms of fashion, because due to the fact that Golden Globes were not like what we use to see this was the first "big" red carpet of the season.

So our honours go to:

ELLEN PAGE
She was nominated because of her portrayal of a 16-year-old girl but there is some grown up people out there envying her because they can't look so great with a little black dress on as she did wearing this Zac Posen frock;

CHRISTINA APPLEGATE

We haven't figured out yet why celebrities forget about such a great and talented designer as Elie Saab. Hopefully Christina Applegate didn't and she looked feminine and radiant wearing one of his creations;

ELLEN POMPEO

She prefered platinum colour instead of Grey but she kept looking good and great with this beautiful Nina Ricci dress that she picked right from January's Vogue Issue, as Ellen revealed;

MARION COTILLARD

The french actress was nominated for "La Vie En Rose" but she impressed by wearing this light grey Nina Ricci dress;

MICHELLE PFEIFFER There is another proof that with almost 50 years old women can look so good as (or even better than) 20 year old girls. Michelle looked so good with her Versace dress on that she almost ofuscated why was everybody at that place;

EVA LONGORIA PARKER
Eva looked so far from a "desperate housewife" -as always - with her Naeem Khan white gown and also give us a peek of her new tattoo.

MARCIA CROSS

Marcia looked stunning and brilliant on this Monique Lluillier tourquoise dress that seem highlighted by Marcia's trademark: her red hair;

Our Choice: 50th Grammy Awards

The Grammys were handed out on Sunday 10th but they weren't just about music...it also included fashion (as in every event with red carpet)...

There lots of people walking down the red carpet but these were the ones that caught our eye:

FERGIE
She looked so "G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S" wearing this light-yellow Calvin Klein dress, Cartier diamonds;

ALICIA KEYS

She scored in fashion department like "No One" by wearing this Giorgio Armani Privé sapphire satin dress and mixing it up with an edgy hairdo;

NATASHA BEDINGFIELD

Natasha dressed to impress by wearing this flashy purple Reem Acra frock and now that she is ready to hit the American market she made a fashionable statement;

FAITH HILL

Faith Hill made country look better than ever by wearing this amazing one-shouldered Valentino dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and giving some Old Hollywood to this year ceremony;

News: Mr. Blackwell Spares Britney But Hits Hard on Victoria Beckham

Fashion comentator Mr. Blackwell released his list of the Worst Dressed of 2007 and surprised everyone by pointing Victoria Beckham as number one. "In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty 'Posh' can really wreck-em" Blackwell notes.

Amy Winehouse may be Karl Lagarfeld's new muse but in this race she wins the silver medal and Mary-Kate Olsen finishes it in thrird place, taking over Lindsay Lohan's last year's position. (This year she fell to a ninth place, what, in this case is good).

Fergie, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Jessica Simpson (!), and Alison Arngrim (Little House On The Praire) are also featured in the black list.

The ancestor of Victoria in the top of the list, Britney Spears, does not even appear this year. Blackwell justifies this by feeling that was ' inappropriate at this time to make comment, when her personal life is in such upheavel" and whishes thar 2008 is better for her than was the last year.

But don't think that Mr Blackwell has forgotten those ladies that he sees as truly fashionable: Reese Witherspoon, Jemima Khan, Beyoncé, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes, Katherine Heigl and Cate Blanchett receive his honours.

News : Health Is Wanted To Be Back in Fashion

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has launched a 14-point action plan for safeguarding the welfare of models working in the United Kingdom that includes some of the suggestions made by the Model Health Inquiry in their high-profile report published in September.

Banning the use of models under the age of 16 at London Fashion Week, requiring health certificates from models appearing in catwalk shows, establishing a representative body for models and taking action against digital manipulation are some of the measures present in this document.

'The BFC is determined to take advantage of the 'window of opportunity' identified by the Inquiry, while sustaining and developing our vibrant industry to further stregthen London's position as the most creative and dynamic of the fashion capitals', is possible to be read in the action plan.

To read the full plan visit http://www.modelhealthinquiry.com/

Since spanish authorities forbade models with a Body Mass Index lower than 18 to appear in the catwalk shows of spanish fashion week two years ago and the death of some models from anorexia, measures like these suggested by BFC became more common and the discussion about the repercussions of the image of models excessively thin in teenagers and women in general hit the world of fashion as any issue related to fashion had done before.
